About Anna

Though I’ve lived in Northeast and Europe, I am a Carolina girl at heart. I prefer my shoes off, green grass between my toes and the sound of my baby boy laughing. Mike and I met during my job interview at WCNC (Charlotte, NC) for an Investigative Reporter position. I got the job and a husband!

We eloped and married in Italy. It was a miracle that we kept such a secret in the middle of a newsroom, but we are sneaky like that! A short two years later, our son was on the way! Mike and I are chronicling our adventures in pregnancy through the Baby Diaries here on the site. Need a laugh? Check them out!

My journey as a journalist started in Boston, MA as an Associate Producer at NECN. My first on-air job was for WUTR in Utica, NY (no one told me to pack a snow shovel). Next up was consumer/problem solving reporting in Syracuse at WSYR-TV. Then, I landed in Charlotte where my coverage of the 2005 Ice Storm won me an Emmy! It was a great moment. Both Mike and my dad were in the audience. Mike shouted so loudly when I won, I didn’t here them say my name!

I left WCNC to expand our family (funny thing about getting pregnant, it helps to actually spend time with your husband!) Baby Crowley is my proudest accomplishment and my greatest joy. I know, I used to roll my eyes at gushing new moms… but now I am one! Gush! Gush!

We married in Arezzo, Italy... the village where I spent my high school years.

Mike and I work closely together to bring you “Relief from a cynical world.” I am so proud to be a part of SASTP and believe very much in our mission: to have a positive, fun and meaningful conversation about life and all the great people in it. While I have lived all over the place and met so many different people in the course of my own television career, I discovered something that so many of you already know: people are the same.

Despite covering some of the most tragic and troubling events in our community on a daily basis, I was left with a profound impression that this world is made up of incredible human beings. That’s why StopandSmellthepeople.com is here; to tell those stories and have a conversation about them.

I’d love to hear from you, so click here to send me an e-mail!
